Foreign Credential Evaluation Scholarship

The Foreign Credential Evaluation Scholarship helps Minnesota early childhood educators who completed high school or higher education outside the United States pay for professional evaluation and translation of their educational records. Evaluated credentials can be used to establish an accurate Career Lattice Step in Develop and may also support enrollment in Minnesota early childhood education or child development programs.

Eligibility

  • Have completed high school or higher education coursework outside the United States.
  • Be working or volunteering in a Minnesota early childhood program or currently participating in Empower to Educate.
  • Have a current, complete, and up-to-date Develop Individual Membership.

Requirements

  • Complete the Foreign Credential Evaluation Scholarship application.
  • Submit a Develop Learning Record showing current membership.
  • Have employment or volunteer status at a Minnesota early childhood program verified in Develop unless participating in Empower to Educate.
  • For direct payment, obtain a written price quote from an approved evaluation or translation agency.
  • For reimbursement, submit a detailed receipt from an accredited transcript evaluation agency.

How to Apply

  1. 1Create or update the applicant's Develop Individual Membership.
  2. 2Verify Minnesota early childhood employment or volunteer service in Develop unless participating in Empower to Educate.
  3. 3Determine whether the applicant needs direct payment or reimbursement.
  4. 4For direct payment, obtain a written quote from a participating evaluation agency.
  5. 5For reimbursement, gather a detailed receipt from an agency accepted under Achieve's Foreign Education Documentation policy.
  6. 6Gather the Develop Learning Record.
  7. 7Create an account in the Child Care Aware Grants and Scholarships Application Portal if necessary.
  8. 8Complete the Foreign Credential Evaluation Scholarship application.
  9. 9Upload the required quote or receipt and Develop documentation.
