The Florida Student Assistance Grant is a need-based state grant for Florida resident undergraduate students with substantial financial need. The program includes public, private, and postsecondary grant options for students attending participating Florida colleges, universities, and certain eligible aviation maintenance programs.

Eligibility

  • Be a Florida resident and a U.S. citizen or eligible noncitizen, as determined by the postsecondary institution.
  • Demonstrate substantial financial need by completing the FAFSA by the institution's deadline.
  • Be enrolled as a degree-seeking undergraduate student at a participating Florida postsecondary institution.
  • Not have previously earned a bachelor's degree.
  • Not owe a repayment or be in default under a state or federal grant, loan, or scholarship program unless satisfactory repayment arrangements have been made.
  • Meet Florida's general eligibility requirements for state financial aid.
  • Enroll in at least six credit hours per term for the Florida Public Student Assistance Grant.
  • Meet the applicable enrollment requirement for the Florida Private or Florida Postsecondary Student Assistance Grant.

Requirements

  • Complete the FAFSA in time for it to be processed without errors by the institution's deadline.
  • Apply for financial aid through the participating college or university.
  • Submit any financial-aid verification documents requested by the institution.
  • Meet the institution's enrollment and satisfactory academic progress requirements.
  • For renewal, maintain at least a 2.0 cumulative institutional GPA.
  • Earn the required number of credit hours during each funded term.
  • Complete a new FAFSA each academic year.

  4. 4Contact the institution's financial-aid office for its FSAG procedures and priority deadline.

  6. 6Review the institutional financial-aid offer for an FSAG award.
  7. 7Continue completing the FAFSA and meeting renewal requirements each year.
