Flinn Scholarship

Eligibility

• Be a graduating Arizona high school senior.
• Be a United States citizen or lawful permanent resident by the application deadline.
• Have been an Arizona resident for the two full years immediately preceding entry to an Arizona public university.
• Maintain an unweighted GPA of at least 3.5.
• Rank within approximately the top 5% of the graduating class when the high school reports class rank.
• Submit at least one qualifying ACT or SAT score.
• Earn a minimum ACT score of 26 or SAT score of 1230.
• Demonstrate substantial leadership, extracurricular involvement, and service to the community.
• Plan to attend Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University, or the University of Arizona.

Requirements

• Complete the official Flinn Scholarship application.
• Submit two essay responses and one short-answer response.
• Provide information about academics, activities, honors, employment, leadership, and service.
• Self-report a qualifying ACT or SAT score.
• Request one academic recommendation from a high school teacher who has assigned the applicant a course grade.
• Request one leadership and service recommendation from an eligible teacher, counselor, coach, employer, professor, or community member.
• Have the high school counselor submit the counselor report, transcript, and school profile.
• Participate in semifinalist and finalist interviews if selected.

How to Apply

1. 1Review the eligibility requirements and begin preparing before the application opens.
2. 2Create an application account when the 2027 application becomes available.
3. 3Complete the biographical, academic, extracurricular, employment, leadership, and service sections.
4. 4Prepare the two essays and short-answer response.
5. 5Register two eligible recommenders and notify them of the submission deadline.
6. 6Ask the high school counselor to submit the counselor report, transcript, and school profile.
7. 7Self-report at least one qualifying ACT or SAT score.
8. 8Submit the student application before the published deadline.
9. 9If selected as a semifinalist, participate in a virtual interview.
10. 10If selected as a finalist, attend university visits and an in-person interview with the selection committee.
