Eligibility

  • Be a resident of Richland County or the surrounding area.
  • Be accepted into postsecondary education, including vocational or technical programs.
  • Preference is given to fire-science students or applicants planning to return to the Richland County area.
  • Preference is given to applicants with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.
  • Preference is also given to children and stepchildren of Richland County volunteer firefighters or EMTs.

Requirements

  • Complete the online scholarship application.
  • Submit an official high school or college transcript.
  • Provide three recommendation surveys.
  • Document membership in volunteer-service organizations, including offices held and estimated service hours.
  • Submit a typed, double-spaced 250-word essay about fire science or the impact of your volunteer service and how further education will strengthen your future service.
  • Provide a financial-need statement and anticipated-expense breakdown.
