Ethel Curry American Indian Leadership Scholarship

Eligibility

• Be a United States citizen.
• Be an enrolled member of a federally recognized Tribe.
• Reside in Minnesota for priority consideration.
• Be accepted into an accredited college or university in Minnesota.
• Be pursuing an associate, bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree, or a diploma or certificate in a career-specific program.
• Undergraduate applicants must have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0.
• Graduate applicants must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.
• Not be related to a current Minnesota Department of Education employee.

Requirements

• Submit a completed Ethel Curry scholarship application.
• Submit unofficial transcripts reflecting the applicant's cumulative GPA and all applicable higher-education coursework.
• Submit proof of enrollment in a federally recognized Tribe.
• Submit one academic letter of reference.
• Submit one personal or professional letter of reference.
• Submit a 400-500 word personal essay describing educational and professional goals and the impact the applicant hopes to have within the American Indian community.
• Submit all six required application components together.

How to Apply

2. 2Complete the scholarship application.
3. 3Gather unofficial transcripts from all applicable institutions.
4. 4Obtain proof of Tribal enrollment.
5. 5Request an academic reference addressing academic performance, leadership, and connection to the American Indian community.
6. 6Request a personal or professional reference addressing character, leadership, community connection, and involvement.
7. 7Write the required 400-500 word personal essay.
8. 8Submit all required items together during the March 1-May 31 annual application window.
