DREAMS Scholarship

The Dedicating Resources to Educationally Advance More Students (DREAMS) Scholarship provides need-based assistance to eligible Georgia residents pursuing an associate or bachelor's degree at a University System of Georgia or Technical College System of Georgia institution. Recipients also complete financial education and ongoing work requirements.

Eligibility

  • Meet United States citizenship or eligible noncitizen requirements.
  • Be a legal resident of Georgia.
  • Be enrolled in at least six credit hours.
  • Attend an eligible University System of Georgia or Technical College System of Georgia institution.
  • Be enrolled in an associate or bachelor's degree program.
  • Not have previously earned a bachelor's degree.
  • Qualify for the Federal Pell Grant.
  • Have remaining unmet financial need after other scholarship and grant aid.
  • Maintain satisfactory academic progress with at least a 2.0 SAP GPA.
  • Maintain at least a 2.0 calculated HOPE GPA at the end of each semester.
  • Meet applicable Selective Service, drug-free education, and student-aid good-standing requirements.

Requirements

  • Complete the FAFSA every academic year.
  • Successfully complete any FAFSA verification required by the institution.
  • Complete the required DREAMS Financial Toolkit sessions before the first award disbursement.
  • After the first funded term, complete at least 60 hours of qualifying paid or unpaid work before each subsequent disbursement.
  • Report and document required work hours through the DREAMS Dashboard.
  • Submit any additional eligibility documents requested by the institution.

How to Apply

  1. 1Complete the current-year FAFSA.
  2. 2Apply for admission and enroll in at least six credit hours at an eligible USG or TCSG institution.
  3. 3Work with the institution's financial-aid office to confirm Pell Grant eligibility and remaining unmet need.
  4. 4Complete the DREAMS Financial Toolkit through the student's GAfutures account.
  5. 5After receiving the first award, complete and document at least 60 qualifying work hours before each later term.
  6. 6Meet the institution's application deadline, which may be earlier than the statewide term deadline.
