Don Watkins Memorial Scholarship

Eligibility

• Be a graduate of an Idaho high school.
• Have completed at least one year of college.
• Be enrolled as a full-time college student.
• Major in journalism or work for a college or professional media outlet.
• Plan to pursue a career in journalism or communications.
• Meet all additional requirements published by the Idaho Press Club for the current cycle.

Requirements

• Submit a one-page résumé.
• Submit a 500-word essay explaining your interest in a journalism or communications career.
• Submit samples of journalistic work, which may be published or unpublished.
• Submit a copy of your academic transcripts, including GPA, through the most recent fall term.
• Submit the complete application materials by the annual deadline.

How to Apply

1. 1Confirm that you graduated from an Idaho high school and have completed at least one year of college.
2. 2Prepare a one-page résumé highlighting journalism, communications, media, employment, and campus activities.
3. 3Write the required 500-word career-interest essay.
4. 4Select strong samples of your published or unpublished journalistic work.
5. 5Request transcripts showing your GPA through the most recent fall term.
6. 6Mail the complete application package to the Idaho Press Club before February 15.
