Discover Manufacturing Scholarship

Eligibility

• Be a graduating high school senior pursuing a manufacturing-related postsecondary program or an individual pursuing skilled-trades technical training.
• Adult continuing-education students and apprentices may apply.
• Demonstrate an interest in pursuing a career connected to manufacturing.
• Applicants from Allegan, Barry, Ionia, Kent, Montcalm, Muskegon, and Ottawa counties receive geographic consideration.
• Applicants outside the seven-county area may still be considered when they demonstrate a strong connection to West Michigan or attend school in West Michigan.
• Previous Discover Manufacturing Scholarship recipients may apply for renewal funding when eligible.

Requirements

• Complete the Discover Manufacturing Scholarship application.
• Respond to the required questions about manufacturing and your career goals.
• Explain your manufacturing experience, skills, exposure, or interest.
• Explain your financial need and how scholarship funds would be used.
• Describe your connection to West Michigan.
• Provide all additional information and documentation requested in the current application.
• Finalists must participate in an interview.

How to Apply

1. 1Confirm that your education or training leads toward a manufacturing-related career.
2. 2Complete the Discover Manufacturing Scholarship application.
3. 3Answer the required questions about manufacturing and how your education will affect your career.
4. 4Describe relevant manufacturing experience, technical skills, coursework, job-shadowing, employment, or other industry exposure.
5. 5Explain your financial need and specifically how you would use the scholarship.
6. 6Clearly establish your connection to West Michigan, particularly if you live outside the seven preferred counties.
7. 7Proofread the application carefully because writing quality is explicitly included in the scoring rubric.
8. 8Submit the completed application by the annual deadline.
9. 9Participate in an interview if selected as a finalist.
