David K. Roe Scholarship

The David K. Roe Scholarship provides two annual awards to graduating high school seniors with a qualifying Minnesota AFL-CIO union connection who plan to attend a college or university located in Minnesota. Eligible applicants must maintain at least a B average and are entered into a lottery for selection.

Eligibility

  • Be a graduating high school senior.
  • Be a union member or dependent of a union member whose local union is affiliated with the Minnesota AFL-CIO.
  • Have at least a straight B average, equivalent to a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
  • Plan to attend a postsecondary college or university located within Minnesota.
  • Meet the applicable union membership certification requirements.

Requirements

  • Complete the Minnesota AFL-CIO universal scholarship application.
  • Have the qualifying local union officer certify union membership.
  • Have a high school principal, counselor, or advisor certify the required academic average.
  • Submit an official high school transcript.
