Eligibility

  • Graduate from a Baltimore City or Washington, DC public school or public charter school.
  • Have been a resident of Baltimore City or Washington, DC and attended a public or public charter school there for at least grades 10, 11, and 12.
  • Be admitted to Johns Hopkins University as a full-time, first-year, first-time degree-seeking undergraduate student.
  • Have family income of up to $200,000 with typical assets.
  • Submit all required Johns Hopkins financial aid documents by the applicable deadline.
  • Meet all applicable Johns Hopkins University admission and financial aid requirements.
  • Transfer students are not eligible for the Cummings Scholars Program.
  • Students who attended private high schools are not eligible for the program.

Requirements

  • Apply for first-year undergraduate admission to Johns Hopkins University.
  • Submit all required financial aid documents by the applicable Johns Hopkins deadline.
  • Provide the financial information necessary for Johns Hopkins to determine Cummings Scholars income eligibility.
  • Meet the Baltimore City or Washington, DC residency and public-school attendance requirements.
  • No separate Cummings Scholars Program application is required.
  • For renewal, maintain at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA.
  • For renewal, complete at least 12 credits per semester.
  • Remain in good academic and institutional standing.
