Community West Vern Hyde Scholarship

Eligibility

• Be a high school senior, current college student, or current trade school student.
• Live or attend school in Allegan, Barry, Ionia, Kent, or Ottawa County, Michigan.
• Be a Community West Credit Union member in good standing.
• For the upcoming cycle, have maintained qualifying membership for at least six months by July 1, 2026.
• Be the actual Community West member; joint ownership or merely being related to a member does not satisfy the membership requirement.
• Pursue an undergraduate college, university, trade, or vocational program.
• There is no age limit.

Requirements

• Complete the Vern Hyde Scholarship application.
• Complete the required essay personally.
• Provide information demonstrating leadership, volunteerism, and community involvement.
• Complete account verification after entry.

How to Apply

1. 1Confirm personal Community West membership and the six-month membership requirement.
2. 2Confirm residence or school attendance in one of the five eligible counties.
3. 3Complete the online scholarship application.
4. 4Write the required scholarship essay.
5. 5Describe leadership, volunteerism, and community involvement with specific examples.
6. 6Complete membership verification when requested.
