Cohen Scholars Program
Offered by Maryland Nurse Support Program II
The Cohen Scholars Program provides financial assistance to graduate nursing students preparing to become nurse faculty, clinical educators, professional development specialists, nurse residency educators, and other qualified nursing educators in Maryland. Participating Maryland nursing programs nominate and select scholars for support through the Nurse Support Program II.

Eligibility
- Be a Maryland resident.
- Be accepted to or currently enrolled full-time or part-time in an eligible graduate nursing program at an accredited Maryland postsecondary institution.
- Be pursuing an eligible Master of Science in Nursing, post-graduate nursing education certificate, DNP, PhD, EdD, or other approved graduate nursing education pathway.
- Maintain at least a 3.0 GPA when applying.
- Prepare for a qualifying nurse educator, nurse faculty, clinical educator, professional development, residency education, or other approved nursing education role.
- Meet the nomination and sponsorship requirements of a participating Maryland nursing program.
- Agree to fulfill the required Maryland nursing education service obligation after completing the supported program.
Requirements
- Complete the application process established by the participating Maryland nursing program.
- Complete the required Cohen Scholars nomination and sponsorship materials.
- Submit the required Cohen Scholars essay.
- Participate in an interview if selected by the participating nursing program.
- Complete at least nine semester hours of approved nursing education coursework.
- Participate in required mentoring and Cohen Scholars professional development activities.
- Maintain the academic progress and GPA required for continued funding.
- Sign the required service obligation agreement and promissory note.
- Complete the required Maryland nurse educator service after graduation.

- 6Participate in a virtual or institutional interview if invited.
- 7If selected, complete the mentoring plan, nursing education coursework, professional development activities, and service obligation requirements.
