The Cochran Scholarship supports an undergraduate Missouri NEA Aspiring Educators member who is enrolled in a Missouri teacher education program and preparing for a career in teaching. The scholarship was established by longtime educators Peggy and Paul Cochran to encourage future teachers.

Eligibility

  • Be a Missouri NEA Aspiring Educators member.
  • Be currently enrolled in a Missouri teacher education program.
  • Be pursuing a career in teaching.
  • Use scholarship funds for undergraduate study.

Requirements

  • Complete the Cochran Scholarship application.
  • Submit a current transcript or fall grade report showing cumulative GPA.
  • Provide information about extracurricular activities, leadership, awards, achievements, employment, and volunteer experiences.
  • Submit a one-page essay.
  • Submit one recent letter of recommendation from a professor, teacher, or other non-relative.
  • Finalists may be contacted for a personal interview or additional information.
