Blaze Foundation Needs-Based Scholarship

The Blaze Foundation Needs-Based Scholarship provides financial assistance to Minnesota high school seniors pursuing postsecondary education who demonstrate financial need. Blaze Credit Union membership is not required. The program is designed to reduce financial barriers for students continuing their education at accredited two-year colleges, four-year colleges and universities, trade schools, vocational schools, and other qualifying postsecondary institutions.

Eligibility

  • Be a current Minnesota high school student graduating during the applicable scholarship year.
  • Demonstrate financial need through the scholarship application.
  • Be enrolled, accepted, or planning to attend an accredited postsecondary institution during the applicable academic year.
  • Eligible institutions may include two-year colleges, four-year colleges and universities, trade schools, vocational schools, and other accredited postsecondary programs.
  • Blaze Credit Union membership is not required.
  • Use the scholarship within one year of the award.

Requirements

  • Complete the Blaze Foundation scholarship application.
  • Provide information demonstrating financial need.
  • Submit a letter of recommendation.
  • Describe community involvement, extracurricular activities, accomplishments, awards, professional or community affiliations, and volunteer involvement.
  • Complete the required scholarship essay.
  • Do not include the applicant's name or names of family members in the essay or community involvement response.

How to Apply

  2. 2Complete the Blaze Foundation scholarship application.
  3. 3Provide the requested financial-need information.
  4. 4Request the required letter of recommendation.
  5. 5Prepare the community involvement response.
  6. 6Write the required financial-challenge essay.
  7. 7Remove your name and the names of family members from the essay and community involvement response to preserve the anonymous review process.
  8. 8Submit the complete application during the annual scholarship window.
  9. 9If selected, enroll at the qualifying postsecondary institution and maintain active student status.
