The Bank of Washington Do Good Scholarship recognizes graduating high school seniors who demonstrate a strong commitment to volunteerism, leadership, community service, and school involvement. One $1,000 scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior from each of four participating Missouri high schools.

Eligibility

  • Be a graduating senior at Washington High School, Pacific High School, Clayton High School, or St. Francis Borgia High School in Missouri.
  • Have maintained a minimum 3.0 GPA through the most recently completed high school transcript.
  • Plan to attend an accredited community college, vo-tech or technical school, four-year college, or university.
  • Enroll at the selected postsecondary institution no later than the fall term following high school graduation.
  • Demonstrate commitment to community service, volunteerism, leadership, and school involvement.
  • Immediate family members of Bank of Washington Board of Directors members, Board of Advisors members, and employees are not eligible.
  • Applicants do not need to be Bank of Washington customers.
  • Financial need is not used as a scholarship selection criterion.

Requirements

  • Complete the Bank of Washington Do Good Scholarship application.
  • Submit a current high school transcript.
  • Submit two letters of recommendation from teachers, counselors, administrators, coaches, employers, or an eligible combination of these recommenders.
  • Submit an essay of no more than 500 words discussing the applicant's philosophy on volunteerism, giving back, or doing good within their school or community.
  • Provide all additional information required by the current scholarship application.

How to Apply

  1. 1Complete the digital Do Good Scholarship application.
  2. 2Prepare the required community service and volunteerism essay.
  3. 3Obtain two qualifying recommendation letters.
  4. 4Submit the required transcript and supporting materials according to the instructions for the applicant's high school.
  5. 5Submit all required materials by March 31 of the applicant's graduating school year.
  6. 6Selected recipients must provide the Bank of Washington with the name of their attending postsecondary institution by July 1.
  7. 7Scholarship funds are paid directly to the recipient's accredited postsecondary institution.
