Eligibility

  • Meet Arkansas residency eligibility. Linked rules allow legal residency of the student, or a parent when the student is under 21.
  • Residency duration needs confirmation: the sponsor overview lists six months, an older section says one year, and the linked rules do not specify that duration. Ask ADHE which requirement applies to your route.
  • Have a high-school diploma or GED and enroll in an approved program in advanced manufacturing, construction trades, healthcare, information technology or logistics/distribution/transportation.
  • Do not currently receive the Arkansas Academic Challenge Scholarship; confirm the institution and course appear on the approved program list.

Requirements

  • Submit the Workforce Challenge application at least 30 days before enrollment.
  • Provide requested eligibility and program-cost documentation and confirm the training's clock-hour or credit tier.
  • This is nonrenewable. After successful completion, you may apply for a different approved program; an unsuccessful participant may reapply once.

How to Apply

  1. 1Check the approved Workforce Challenge program list linked on the ADHE page.
  2. 2Confirm residency eligibility and start date with ADHE and your training provider.
  3. 3Apply through Arkansas SAMS at least 30 days before enrollment and submit supporting documents.
  4. 4Have the institution verify tuition/fees and eligible program enrollment before payment.
