Eligibility

  • Be a graduating high school senior and bona fide Arkansas resident for 12 months.
  • Be a US citizen or permanent resident, or follow ADHE's eligibility route if you or a parent holds an Employment Authorization Document.
  • Have at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA and official ACT composite/superscore of 32 or a qualifying 1410 SAT. Qualifying scores must be earned by the end of February.
  • Enroll in an approved institution with at least 12 credits first fall and 15 each semester thereafter, subject to permitted final-year proration.

Requirements

  • Complete the Governor's Distinguished SAMS application by March 1 and ensure qualifying scores are reported.
  • Submit FAFSA unless exempt through the EAD route; contact ADHE for that exception.
  • If a qualifying score is earned after an earlier SAMS application, submit the required new scholarship application before the deadline.
  • For renewal maintain 3.25 cumulative GPA, earn 27 credits first year and 30 each later year, and satisfy institutional SAP and continuous enrollment/approved-hold rules.

How to Apply

  1. 1Complete the specific SAMS scholarship application and applicable FAFSA requirement.
  2. 2Verify official qualifying scores earned by February and submit the application by March 1.
  3. 3Monitor SAMS; accept and maintain required enrollment, earned hours and GPA. Annual renewal normally does not require a new application.
