Eligibility

  • Published program requirements call for Arkansas residency, US citizenship/permanent residency and demonstrated financial need through FAFSA.
  • Be accepted/enrolled in an ASBN/ADHE-approved nursing program or qualifying nationally accredited out-of-state program; confirm the current approved route with ASBN.
  • Practice loans support initial nurse licensure or further practice-oriented nursing education; an unencumbered license is required if already licensed.
  • Educator loans require a current unencumbered nursing license and approved bachelor's, master's or doctoral nursing education toward teaching.
  • ASBN staff/Board relationships are subject to the published nepotism restrictions. Verify all current requirements before applying.

Requirements

  • A new application window and deadline were not verified. Older official materials describe January 1–June 1, but do not establish the next intake; contact ASBN for the current packet.
  • The loan may convert to a scholarship through one qualifying full-time Arkansas practice year per funded year, or full-time Arkansas nursing-school teaching for the educator route.
  • Failure to meet study/service agreement conditions can require repayment with interest. Review the current promissory/service agreement before accepting.
  • Maintain academic good standing and at least eligible part-time enrollment; provide transcripts and changes in program/completion plans as requested by ASBN.
  • Use the current Board-issued application checklist rather than assuming the historical packet's dollar limits or submission details remain unchanged.

How to Apply

  1. 1Ask ASBN about the next intake, current packet, approved nursing program and practice/educator loan route.
  2. 2Complete FAFSA and gather admission, academic, financial and applicable license records required by the current checklist.
  3. 3Submit the Board application and review its loan/service agreement if selected.
  4. 4Maintain study eligibility and later document qualifying Arkansas practice or educator service for conversion.
