Eligibility

• Admission/enrollment in an ATA-eligible program or approved pre-major at a participating public university/community college, successful annual FAFSA processing and required academic/enrollment standing.
• Eligible routes can include undergraduate/graduate preparation, post-baccalaureate certification and approved existing-teacher credential pathways; not every education degree qualifies. Residency and standing preferences/requirements vary by campus.
• Sign the service agreement and teach in an eligible Arizona public/charter school for one academic year for each funded academic year; confirm your route’s service calculation.

Requirements

• NAU: eligible program admission, good standing and current FAFSA; complete ATA agreement through the LOUIE To Do List. First-come, first-served subject to funding.
• ASU: current page describes incoming resident transfer/graduate eligible certification routes; new awards await additional funding information. Contact the college before assuming an award is available.
• UArizona undergraduate: no new applications for Spring/Summer 2027; Fall 2027 application planned February through early June 2027, exact dates unannounced. Graduate routes use program selection lists rather than a separate ATA scholarship form.
• Application, amount, eligible program, academic requirements and aid offsets differ by institution. No single statewide cutoff or universal GPA. Obtain a confirmed offer before budgeting.
• Maintain campus renewal conditions and remaining funded terms. Review the service agreement carefully: failure to finish the program or fulfill the service commitment may require repayment. Partial semesters in separate academic years may create separate service years.
• NAU is not need-based; maintain cumulative GPA 2.0 as an undergraduate or 3.0 as a graduate student. Reapply each academic year and separately for summer, with funding and remaining terms confirmed. UArizona normally allows eight undergraduate/four graduate semesters of continuous study; check your signed campus agreement.

How to Apply

1. 1Choose an approved campus program and complete admission and annual FAFSA.
2. 2Contact the school’s ATA representative for current funding, eligibility and internal timing. Use the NAU agreement, UArizona undergraduate form when it reopens, or graduate program selection route as applicable.
3. 3Read and sign the service agreement, maintain funded-program standing and document eligible teaching service after completion.
