Eligibility

  • Be the child, adopted child, stepchild, or qualifying dependent of a U.S. servicemember who died on active duty on or after September 11, 2001, or a post-9/11 veteran with a VA disability rating of 50% or greater.
  • Be accepted to or attending an accredited nonprofit institution of higher education in the United States.
  • Meet all financial need and documentation requirements established by The American Legion.

  • Complete the online Legacy Scholarship application.
  • Submit FAFSA information.
  • Provide military eligibility documentation.
  • Provide financial aid information from your college or university.
