American Indian Scholars Program

Eligibility

• Be eligible for Minnesota resident tuition and be an enrolled member or citizen of a federally recognized American Indian Tribe or Canadian First Nation, OR be an enrolled member or citizen of a Minnesota Tribal Nation regardless of resident tuition status.
• Be enrolled in an undergraduate certificate, diploma, or degree program at a Minnesota State institution or University of Minnesota campus.
• Not have already obtained a bachelor's degree.
• Not have been enrolled for 12 full-time semesters or the equivalent at the college level.
• Meet Satisfactory Academic Progress requirements.

Requirements

• Provide documentation establishing qualifying tribal enrollment or citizenship.
• Complete any eligibility verification or application process required by the student's college or university.
• Maintain enrollment in an eligible undergraduate certificate, diploma, or degree program.
• Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress.

How to Apply

1. 1Confirm that the Minnesota State institution or University of Minnesota campus is eligible for the program.
2. 2Contact the institution's financial aid office for its American Indian Scholars Program process.
3. 3Complete the institution's required application or eligibility verification process.
4. 4Provide documentation of enrollment or citizenship in a qualifying federally recognized American Indian Tribe, Canadian First Nation, or Minnesota Tribal Nation.
5. 5Complete any additional financial aid documentation requested by the institution.
6. 6Maintain eligible enrollment and Satisfactory Academic Progress to continue receiving program benefits.
