All Iowa Opportunity Scholarship

The All Iowa Opportunity Scholarship is a state-funded scholarship for Iowa residents attending eligible Iowa colleges and universities. It supports students with financial need and gives priority consideration to applicants from foster care, children of deceased public safety workers, certain TRIO participants, alternative high school graduates, and Iowa GEAR UP participants.

Eligibility

  • Be an Iowa resident.
  • Attend an eligible Iowa college or university.
  • Graduate from an eligible Iowa high school or complete a high school equivalency diploma within the previous two years, unless exempt because of foster care status.
  • Generally enter college as a first-time freshman during the applicable academic year, unless renewing the scholarship or qualifying through foster care status.
  • Enroll in at least three semester credit hours, or the equivalent, in a program leading to an undergraduate degree, diploma, or certificate.
  • Complete the FAFSA and Iowa Financial Aid Application by the required deadline for first-time applicants.
  • Have an eligible Student Aid Index as determined through the FAFSA.
  • Meet all additional state financial-aid eligibility requirements.

Requirements

  • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.
  • Complete the Iowa Financial Aid Application if applying for the first time.
  • List an eligible Iowa college or university on the FAFSA.
  • Maintain continuous enrollment and receive a scholarship payment during each required academic term to remain eligible for renewal, unless exempt because of foster care status.
  • Maintain an eligible Student Aid Index throughout the academic year.
  • Remain in good academic standing with the attending institution.

How to Apply

  2. 2Complete the Iowa Financial Aid Application if you are a first-time applicant.
  3. 3Submit both applications by April 1.
  4. 4Confirm that your selected Iowa college or university participates in the program.
  5. 5Monitor your financial-aid account for award information or requests for additional documentation.
  6. 6If selected, remain continuously enrolled and meet renewal requirements each academic year.
